Far-Infrared Transition and Diffraction Radiation Part I: Production, Diffraction Effects and Optical Propagation
Transition radiation is emitted when a relativistic charged particle crosses the boundary between two media of different dielectric properties. Radiation is also produced if the particle does not cross the discontinuity directly but passes it at such a close distance that its self-field is modified by the sudden change in the dielectric constant. In this case one speaks of diffraction radiation...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Waves Propagation in Dust Storms at Millimetre Wave Band
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia. Corresponding Author: Abdulwaheed Musa ___________________________________________________________________________ Abstract The effects of dust storms on propagation of electromagnetic wave at millimeter wave band are investigated. The propagation at millimeter wave band is affe...
متن کاملOutdoor Ultra Wideband Propagation Channel Modeling at Vhf/uhf Band
Due to the low power spectral properties of ultra wideband (UWB) signals, the technology is suitable to be used, e.g., in covert military applications. The open literature lacks of UWB radio channel models that are generated for outdoor use. This paper describes the radio channel measurement campaign carried out to increase the knowledge of the UWB propagation mechanisms in typical Finnish fore...
متن کاملA Comparison of L-Band and C- Band Multipath Propagation at Edwards AFB
This paper summarizes Land C-band propagation data based on multiple transmit and receive antennas in the flight-line environment at Edwards AFB. The data show that for this particular environment, C-band propagation exhibits much less delay spread than L-band propagation. But C-band propagation is more susceptible to complete outages due to shadowing. The main contributing factors to these con...
متن کاملUnitarity effects in hard diffraction at HERA
We study how factorization breaking changes when going from diffractive deep inelastic scattering to diffractive photoproduction of dijets. These processes offer a sensitive probe of the interplay of soft and hard mechanisms in QCD. We demonstrate that unitarity effects are already important in the gluon distribution for x ∼ 10 −4, for quite a wide range of Q2.
